Ambulatory Care

What is Ambulatory Care?
Ambulatory care describes any treatment or examination that can be done in a way that lets you go home in less than a day. It includes services ranging from brief diagnostic investigations or therapeutic treatments all the way to surgical interventions that can be done on a short-stay basis. More and more health care services are being provided in this way, which minimizes disruption to patients' lives, reduces the chance of infection, and allows for rapid recovery in the comforts of home.

The Women's College Hospital is a community dedicated to achieving leadership in women's health in an ambulatory care setting.

We are the first and only independent ambulatory care hospital in Ontario, and the only hospital in Ontario with a primary focus on women's health. As a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, we support research in women's health and will lead the way in training health-care providers within an ambulatory setting.
