About Women's College Hospital
New Thinking

For more than 100 years, Women’s College Hospital has been providing skilled, compassionate care, educating physicians and clinicians and creating new knowledge. But now it’s time to look forward to the future of Women’s College Hospital, and the future of health care. We have an opportunity to make real change in health care. And real change demands new thinking.

To move forward, paradigms must shift. We need new thinking about medicine and technology, about wellness and disease, about innovation and improvement, about knowledge creation and exchange. About the health care needs of women and men. We need new thinking about the role of Women’s College Hospital in tomorrow’s health care system.

New Medicine
Women’s College Hospital will realize the potential of new technologies and knowledge. We will support our patients to stay well. When they become ill, we will offer treatments that minimize the disruption in their lives, support them emotionally and spiritually, and get them back to their families and communities sooner. New thinking will lead to better outcomes.
New Care
At Women’s College Hospital, health care will be holistic. We will treat patients not as a collection of body parts but as the complex individuals they are. At the Women’s College Hospital, teams of health care professionals – doctors, nurses, therapists and others – will work together in partnership with patients. New thinking will mean better care.
New Research
Men and women are different – physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually. The Women’s College Research Institute will expand our understanding of women’s health and develop and test new approaches to care. It will lead the way by exchanging knowledge with current and future health care professionals, policy makers and the public. The new thinking of our researchers will improve the quality of women’s lives in our communities and beyond.
New Space
New thinking about health care demands new thinking about hospitals. Today, more than 90% of all encounters in the health system involve little or no hospitalization. That means hospitals have to change. Women’s College Hospital will support new approaches to care. It will look and feel very different. New thinking will mean a healthy, safe and positive environment for patients, families and staff.
